An introduction to various genres within Dance and New Media, including simple hands-on work with existing and emerging technologies used in creating and delivering media-dance works. No previous dance experience is required.
- Note: This activity-based course serves as an introduction to the various genres within Dance and New Media including VR and AR; Interactivity; and Dance Film. Using the Isadora software as a primary media-manipulation tool, students are guided through composition exercises using software and hardware as needed to creatively address the intersection of movement and media. Students will learn to timeline and play back video sequences on command; consider the integration of live performers and video imagery; use live/audio feeds to amplify experience; use interactive systems as an intensifier of liveness; experiment with alternative projection surfaces, material and projection mapping techniques. No previous experience is required.
