Hip Hop Dance (2.0 units, max 8)
Continued study of Hip Hop Dance elements on an intermediate level, augmenting the historical context, technique, fluidity, and musicality required to execute the form with greater movement acuity.
- Prerequisite: DANC 185A
- Note: If you have previous dance experience, have not completed DANC 185A, and would like to take this course, please contact uscdance@usc.edu for a prerequisite waiver. Course objectives: Demonstrate emotions and movement that reflect the mood and texture of a piece of music in a way that provides a visual reflection of sound, through verbal and kinetic application articulate the contextual/historical intelligence of social dance and what role this plays in terms of placement in soceity, and explore improvisation and its correlation with time, space, weight, flow, and emotion, to develop a vastly powerful repertoire for self-expression.
