Fundamental Concepts of Modern Algebra (4.0 units)

Sets; relations; groups; homomorphisms; symmetric groups; Abelian groups; Sylow's theorems; introduction to rings and fields. Not open to students with credit in MATH 470. Prerequisite: MATH 225. Recommended preparation: one 400-level Mathematics course, excluding MATH-450.
