Summer Financial Aid

Limited summer financial aid is available to USC students who qualify for available programs. All programs, except Summer Federal Work-Study, require enrollment in the summer term. For more information about financial aid or any of the programs listed here, visit the summer financial aid page. Contact your academic department directly for information about departmental aid that may be available for summer school. Financial aid counselors are available by phone, email or in person to help answer any questions you may have. For more information, visit financialaid.usc.edu/contactfao.

Summer Federal Work-Study

Eligible continuing students can earn up to a designated amount through the Summer Federal Work-Study program. You do not need to be enrolled in summer school to participate, but must apply by March 31, 2020, and meet other eligibility criteria. The required application form can be found online at the Scholarship Management Portal.

Summer Loans

The following loan programs may be available to eligible students who enroll at least half-time in the summer term: Subsidized and/or Unsubsidized Federal Direct Loans, the Federal Direct PLUS Loan (for parents of undergraduate students considered dependent for the purposes of receiving federal financial aid) and the Federal Direct Graduate PLUS Loan (for graduate and professional students). Other private financing programs are also available and may not require half-time enrollment.

Required summer loan application forms can be found at financialaid.usc.edu on or after March 15, 2020.

Note: You should apply for your loan(s) no later than six weeks before the start of your first summer session. Not all students qualify for a summer loan. If you are relying on a summer loan to pay for your summer class(es), we strongly recommend that you apply early so that we can determine your eligibility before the deadline to withdraw from your class(es).

Summer Cal Grant Programs

Continuing undergraduate students who receive Cal Grant funds may request that a portion of their funds be used for the summer session. For more information about summer Cal Grants, visit financialaid.usc.edu.

The Fall 2020 semester will begin with fully remote instruction, with limited exceptions for clinical education. Faculty will contact students to provide information to login to classes. Read more.
