Final Examination Dates
May 7-14, 2008
Last Day of Classes – Friday, May 2
Study Days – Saturday, May 3 - Tuesday, May 6
No final examination may be scheduled on Study Days. Students should confirm their final examination dates and times with course instructors.
Instructions
- ALL INSTRUCTORS MUST ADHERE TO THE FINAL EXAMINATION SCHEDULE. No deviations from this schedule are permitted for those classes having a final examination unless authorized in advance by the Committee on Academic Policies and Procedures (CAPP). Final examinations may not be scheduled on Study Days. Except under extremely extraordinary circumstances, final examinations should not be rescheduled for a date prior to the first day scheduled for final examinations. CAPP will not consider any request for rescheduling final examinations without unanimous written consent of all students in the class. No student in a course with a final examination is permitted to omit or anticipate a final examination, and no instructor is authorized to permit a student to do so. For graduate courses having a final examination, the examination will be during the final examination period according to the final examination schedule. Rescheduling of final examinations must be approved by the dean of the academic unit for sound academic reasons.
- Students are advised to plan in advance to avoid scheduling conflicts in their final examinations. However, in the event that a student is scheduled for two final examinations at the same time or is scheduled for more than two final examinations on one day, an attempt will be made to make alternative arrangements. The student should contact the appropriate department administrator or the Testing Bureau.
- Please check the EXCEPTIONS schedule to see whether or not any of your classes are included.
Make-Up Final Examinations Policy
When a final examination falls at a time that conflicts with a student’s observance of a holy day, faculty members must accommodate a request for an alternate examination date at a time that does not violate the student’s religious creed. A student must discuss a final examination conflict with the professor no later than two weeks prior to the scheduled examination date to arrange an acceptable alternate examination date.
