Organ Failure: Non-Communicable Chronic Disease (2.0 units)
An examination of frequently treated diseases with the greatest impact on society. Involvement of medical specialists and actual patients as guests. Prerequisite: MEDS 220 and 1 from (BISC 220 or BISC 221) and 1 from (CHEM 103 or CHEM 105a or CHEM 115a) . Recommended preparation: MEDS 320 or EXSC 301.
- Prerequisite: MEDS 220 and 1 from (BISC 220 or BISC 221) and 1 from (CHEM 105a or CHEM 115a)
- Note: Chronic diseases have emerged as the leading cause of mortality and morbidity in both the developed and developing worlds. This course will use an organ system-based approach to examine the chronic diseases that have the greatest impact on individuals, families and society as a whole.
