<event-description>
The Hindu religion claims nearly a billion followers. Hinduism affirms many gods, but within that 3,000-year-old tradition there are also many who recognize just one supreme god (or goddess) over all other deities, while some Hindus point to supreme reality beyond the gods.

How should the dialogue between Hinduism and Catholicism be framed? As the encounter of two great philosophical and theological streams? By considering the ascetic traditions both religions embody, or the sense of ritual and celebration honored in both traditions? Can there be a close rapport between religions with such different views of social order and change?

About the Speaker

Francis X.
