The Face is a multidisciplinary chamber opera featuring music, film, and choreography created by USC Thornton faculty composer Donald Crockett and USC poet David St. John.  Set in Venice Beach, the opera tells a deeply compelling story about the price of fame, desire, and creativity.  The event will include an introduction by composer, a semi-staged performance of selected scenes, readings by St. John, and a discussion afterwards.  An outstanding international cast of singers (soprano Jane Sheldon, mezzo-soprano Janna Baty, tenor Daniel Norman, and baritone Thomas Meglioranza) present selected scenes from the opera, which also features Thornton faculty guitarist Brian Head and the musicians of the USC Thornton Contemporary Music Ensemble.
