Learn the most recent information on psychopharmacological advances in the evaluation and treatment of mental disorders.

Medications represent an important component of treatment for many people suffering from mental illness, and advances in psychopharmacology have helped form the current understanding of conditions ranging from mild anxiety to severe schizophrenia and mood disorders.

Research demonstrates that the addition of medication to a psychotherapy regimen can often improve outcomes considerably. However, the majority of prescriptions for psychiatric medications are written by primary care physicians, not by psychiatrists. It becomes ever more important for clinical psychologists to have a working understanding of psychopharmacology and to be current with major trends in the field, in order to assist their clients in navigating the system of care.

This one-day course is designed to keep psychologists and psychotherapists up to date. Prevalent major categories of mental disorders will be covered, including mood disorders, anxiety disorders, psychosis, bipolar disorders and personality disorders.

Six Psychologist CE Credits have been applied for with MCEP.
