The Thornton School and the L.A. Philanthropic Committee for the Arts present Guarneri Quartet cellist Peter Wiley in a master class.

Come watch prominent artists share their expertise and artistic inspiration with young performers! The Strings Department of USC's Thornton School of Music invites the community to observe students as they work with Mr. Wiley in a master class setting. Mr. Wiley will hear Thornton students perform major works from the cello repertoire and guide them through technical and artistic discussion.

Peter Wiley attended the Curtis Institute at just 13 years of age, under the tutelage of David Soyer. He continued his impressive youthful accomplishments with his appointment as principal cellist of the Cincinnati Symphony at age 20, after one year in the Pittsburgh Symphony. He has been awarded an Avery Fisher Career Grant and was nominated with the Beaux Arts Trio for a Grammy Award in 1998. As a member of the Beaux Arts Trio, Wiley performed in more than a thousand concerts, including appearances with many of the world's greatest orchestras. He continues his association with the Marlboro Music Festival, dating from 1971. He has also been a faculty artist at Caramoor's Rising Stars program and has taught at the Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music, the Mannes College of Music and the Manhattan School of Music. He is also on the faculty of the Curtis Institute of Music and a
member of the Guarneri String Quartet.
