A Healthy Imagination
Daily: Wednesday 12/14/2011 - Friday 02/17/2012; All day
University Park Campus University Village Shopping Center University Village, Food Court
Grade school students use their creativity to depict what it means to live a healthy life.
Art in the Village is a visual arts outreach program created to give students the opportunity to create art in the classroom. The artworks created by the students are submitted into a juried exhibition that the USC Fisher Museum of Art plans, curates and professionally installs at the University Village Shopping Center food court.
This academic year’s second Art in the Village exhibition, “A Healthy Imagination,” asks students to use their creativity to demonstrate healthy living. This show will consist of artwork from K-5 students who attend the USC Family of Schools (Alexander Science Center, 32nd Street/USC Magnet, Foshay Learning Center, John Mack, Norwood, Vermont and Weems) and two parish schools (St. Agnes and St. Vincent).
Each exhibition kicks off with an opening reception at which the student artists are the stars. The students have the opportunity to speak with family, friends and community members about their artwork and are recognized for their achievements during an awards ceremony.
Funded in part by a USC Neighborhood Outreach Grant, Art in the Village represents a partnership between the USC Fisher Museum of Art, the University Village Shopping Center and the USC Family of Schools.
