The USC Immigrant Health Immigrant welcomes Silvia Barcellos, PhD, for this immigrant health seminar.

The USC Immigrant Health Immigrant welcomes Silvia Barcellos, PhD, for this immigrant health seminar. Dr. Barcellos is an associate economist for RAND Corporation and professor of economics at the Pardee RAND Graduate School. Mexican immigrants new to the United States generally report better health than native-born Americans, and over time, this advantage erodes. But is this apparent decline in health actually a result of undiagnosed diseases in Mexico being discovered in the U.S? Using data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey, Dr. Barcellos will present her surprising findings regarding this paradox.
