Corporate Responsibility - Elissa Loughman, Patagonia

Patagonia Elissa Loughman, Environmental Analyst

Date: Monday, January 28, 2013

Time: 12:30 - 1:50 PM

Location: JKP 102

Co-Sponsors: SC Outfitters and USC Office of Sustainability

Patagonia believes that business can inspire solutions to the environmental crisis. They evaluate raw materials, invest in innovative technologies, and rigorously police their waste through the Common Threads Initiative, bluesign Standard, and the Footprint Chronicles. In addition, they dedicate a portion of their sales to support grassroots organizations through their 'Earth Tax' and involvement with 1% for the Planet.

Elissa's primary responsibility is to research the environmental impacts of Patagonia's operations and products. She is currently working on measuring the ecological footprint of Patagonia's supply chain and reporting those results in Patagonia's Footprint Chronicles. Prior to her work at Patagonia, Elissa worked as an Environmental Specialist for the City of Ventura. Elissa has a BS in Zoology and a Master's Degree in Environmental Science and Management from UC Santa Barbara.

The Lunch and Learn series exposes the USC community to issues of social and environmental importance and how business solutions can be used to approach these issues.

RSVP is requested here; complimentary lunch is served.
