H. Robert Reynolds and Sharon Lavery lead the USC Thornton Wind Ensemble in “Some Things Very Old, and Some Things Very New,” a program that also features guest conductor Thomas Lee and piano faculty Kevin Fitz-Gerald.
Works include Mendelssohn’s Overture, Op. 15; Arclight Alley by Thornton student David Werfelmann, co-winner of the first-ever New Music for Wind Ensemble Competition; a sampler of Mozart, Hummel, and Dvorak; and Carter Pann’s Concerto Logic and Donald Grantham’s J’ai ete au Bal.
