Materials from the USC Libraries Special Collections and the USC Thornton School’s Polish Music Center celebrate the Polish pianist turned prime minister.

This year marks the 150th anniversary of the birth of Ignacy Jan Paderewski (1860-1941), pianist, composer, humanitarian, politician, pioneering developer of California’s wine and oil industries, and USC honorary doctorate recipient (1923).

Following the opening reception on November 4, a lecture-recital featuring pianist Jonathan Plowright and leading Paderewski scholar Malgorzata Perkowska-Waszek will be held in Alfred Newman Hall.

To RSVP for the reception, visit www.usc.edu/esvp and enter the code “Polish”, or call (213) 821-1744. Tickets for the concert will be available at the exhibition reception in Doheny Library. Admission to both events is free.
