A lecture by designer Louise Sandhaus, former director of the Graphic Design Program and current CalArts faculty member.

Sandhaus' design office, LSD, frequently partners with Durfee/Regn Architects to realize complex interpretive exhibitions through a synthesis of architecture, media and graphic design. Sandhaus has curated and organized numerous conferences and events addressing graphic design education in changing contexts, including the AIGA-sponsored "Schools of Thoughts," series focusing on graphic design education as it reflects changing practice in the age of rapidly changing media. She is a frequent contributor to the design press on graphic design education and has increasingly been recognized as a leading voice in design pedagogy. She serves on the AIGA National Steering Committee for Education.

Sandhaus' work and writing have appeared in numerous publications, including Step, PRINT, Eye, Metropolis and Emigre, and her work has been recognized by PRINT, AIGA 365, The Art Directors Club and the American Center for Design. Her work is in the permanent collections of the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art and the Bibliotheque Nationale de France, Paris. She is a recipient of the 2007-08 City of Los Angeles Cultural Affairs grant.
