With classic New Orleans swing and up-tempo bebop, Thornton jazz students and musical veterans light up the night.
The Thornton Jazz Night Series features a variety of ensembles performing on select Thursdays throughout the fall semester. Each show features students from the USC Thornton jazz department, who are directed by some of the top names in the music industry.
Located in the intimate and casual setting of the Ground Zero Coffee House, Jazz Night concerts vary from week to week, with styles ranging from classic New Orleans swing to up-tempo bebop, from fusions of jazz, funk and soul to the hippest modern jazz around the country.
Performing groups include the USC Thornton Big Band, the Honors Combo, the Concert Big Band, ALAJE and various jazz combos (quintets, sextets, octets).
