Rev. Jim Burklo, freshly minted USC Associate Dean of Religious Life, convenes a new silent meditation and prayer group.
The meetings will take place in the Little Chapel of Silence at Town & Gown and will be offered every Wednesday, 12-12:40 p.m., beginning on September 10.
Sessions will begin with 30 minutes of silence, done while sitting in the pews or on floor pillows. This will be followed by 10 minutes of brief sharing among participants about their personal experiences of meditation and prayer.
If they wish, participants may read the prayer slips written by visitors to the chapel, and pray about them. All are welcome to stay for the entire 40 minutes, or to leave after the period of silence if they choose.
People of all faiths or of no religious affiliation are welcome. The group is committed to confidentiality about what is written on the prayer slips and what is shared among participants.
The Little Chapel of Silence is open to students and faculty and staff, daily and into the evening, for personal silent reflection and prayer.
