A hands-on workshop for faculty introduces Web-based tools for finding, organizing and sharing information.
The workshop examines the shifting landscape of networked scholarship generally. If you've heard all the hype about Web 2.0 but don't see how it affects academic work, this workshop offers a solid overview.
Featured tools will include:
- Zotero, a free Firefox extension for compiling sources
- Wikis, collaborative writing environments also useful for presentations, research, book projects and more
- Google Docs and Alerts, for easy collaboration and research
- del.icio.us and furl, for easy, social bookmarking
- RSS feeds for research
The workshop presumes no previous experience with these kinds of tools. Lab computers are PCs. If you'd rather bring your own computer, please do.
