Dedeaux Field

It was clear that there was something special about Dedeaux Field from the time it opened its gates on March 30, 1974: Right-hander Russ McQueen threw a no-hitter that same afternoon, in the first game ever played at the facility, as USC swept a doubleheader from California. The Trojans went on that year to win an unprecedented fifth straight national championship, and Dedeaux Field has been their home ever since. Perhaps the field derived some of its magic from its namesake, the legendary Rod Dedeaux. One of the “winningest? baseball coaches in NCAA history, Dedeaux served as the Trojans’ head coach from 1943 to 1945 and 1951 to 1986, racking up 41 winning seasons in 45 years. Located at the northwest corner of the University Park campus (near the intersection of Jefferson Boulevard and Vermont Avenue), Dedeaux Field seats more than 1,800 spectators and features a natural grass field, 10-foot outfield fences, a spacious press box, a state-of-the-art scoreboard/messaging center and lighting comparable to most professional baseball facilities. It also offers modern locker rooms and practice facilities as well as an enclosed Pavilion Club and the USC Baseball Hall of Fame.
