Discovery Scholars

Students compete for a selected number of annual Discovery Scholar Prizes of $10,000, awarded at graduation for the purpose of post-baccalaureate study.
Message from the President

“Then there is the extracurricular side in university functions: meet your classmates and professors outside of the classrooms, learn to know and understand them, and in so doing enrich your own personality and broaden your knowledge. Don’t slight one side of your college education for the other side – treat each side equally and thoroughly, for only in so doing can you exemplify genuine Trojanism. Put into ‘SC all that you have and you will profit to the fullest.
“Norman Johnson, President, A.S.U.S.C. message”

Academic advisement is important in planning a curriculum that fulfills general education requirements and major requirements, while allowing you to take advantage of the varied programs and classes the university offers. An advisor can help you sort through requirements and introduce interesting options for your program. If you are an undeclared major, a pre-professional student, (law, medicine, dentistry, pharmacy), or a student interested in graduate school, you can meet with advisors at the Office of College Advising. Each school or department also provides academic advisement for graduate students and undergraduate students admitted (or interested in being admitted) to the major.
Advisement Seminars
College Advising offers preparatory seminars each semester to help you plan your undergraduate studies at the university and to prepare for graduate and professional school. Workshop topics offered include:
- Planning for Health Professions (www.usc.edu/pre-health)
- Planning for Law School (www.usc.edu/pre-law)
- Planning for Graduate School (www.usc.edu/pregrad)
