ITS Customer Support Center's New Location

As of May 14, 2007, the ITS Customer Support Center walk-in area will be located in Leavey Library's Lower Commons at the Reference and Computer Consultation Desk.

This new location allows ITS and the USC Libraries to offer the university community a common point of contact for IT and reference help.

ITS walk-in services such as account assistance, software support, and statistical software distribution, which were previously available in the Jefferson building, room 150, are now available in this new location between the hours of 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.

The Jefferson building location closed at the end of business on Friday, May 11, 2007.

The phone number for the ITS Customer Support Center remains (213) 740-5555.

Customer Support Center Closing Satellite Office

To accommodate customers who have been using this location for equipment pickup and drop-off, the CSG will begin to deliver equipment directly to the offices of customers located on the University Park Campus beginning July 1, 2007. All Communications Services Requests (CSR) for devices such as cell phones and accessories, pagers, headsets, and desktop phones will be handled in this manner. Customers may also request that equipment be picked up from their offices.

Spam Warning

Earlier versions of the message, from January 21 and 24, 2008, had the Subject line "VERIFY YOUR USC EMAIL ACCOUNT NOW." These messages were mailed from non-USC email addresses, such as accountupgrades2008@live.com.

Please remember that USC and ITS will never request that you submit personal information, including your password over email. ITS will never send you email from a non-USC email address. You should only provide your USC password on secure ITS login screens and on the secure ITS password change site (https://www.usc.edu/its/password).

If you have responded to a phishing scheme and submitted information about your USC password, you should immediately go to https://www.usc.edu/its/password to change your USC password.

Adobe Acrobat PDF Security Advisory (February 11)

The malware is designed to tamper with antivirus programs, as well as Web search results and banner displays.

To protect yourself from this vulnerability, download the latest version of Adobe Acrobat Reader from the Adobe website at http://www.adobe.com/downloads/.

The Adobe security advisory can be found on the Adobe Support website.

ITS encourages users to keep all their software up to date, especially security software. ITS provides free security software to USC account holders on the ITS website.

Download and open documents only from trustworthy sources. Software updates were recently released for Adobe Acrobat, Firefox, and QuickTime.

Windows users should be advised that on Tuesday, February 12, 2008, Microsoft will release a series of security updates, including 7 that are labeled critical and 5 that are labeled important.
